With the price of gas soaring, asking the boss to work from home one or two days a week has become a very serious request, with far reaching financial consequences if the request is denied. You stand a higher chance of being denied if you ask with no prior history of working remotely, attract attention from your peers who all jump on the telecommuting bandwagon, or surprise IT with a huge request for everything at once triggering a complaint to your Boss. The best way to get yourself in a position of approval is to slowly, quietly, set up a home office and create a history of working remotely prior to asking. Here is a plan to put yourself into a position where the Boss is comfortable with approving your request:

The Linksys WRT54G and WRT54GS have been around since 2002. The first 4 versions of the routers had 4 MB Flash, 16 MB RAM, and were two of the first routers capable of flashing Alternative Firmware like Tomato, DD-WRT, and X-Wrt. The GS has “Speed Booster”, a technology that claims to increase bandwidth to 125mbps (provided attached devices can too). Version 5, and all subsequent versions to date changed to the following configuration:

The Linksys WRT600N has far more features and configuration options than than the average user would ever need, including 3 Antennas to support 2.4GHz, and 5GHz Wireless-a/b/g/n. Works best in a situation where:
- All your network devices are Wireless-N capable
- You have a IPv6 DOCSIS 3.0 Internet Connection
